We are based in Allerton, near Penny Lane and are housed in several classrooms adjoining Elm Hall Drive Methodist Church. We are proud to have been operating under the same management since 1978 and thriving on recommendation alone.

Open from 8.30am - 4pm Monday to Friday during term time. Open at half term.

Mai Bradbury established Bluebird Kindergarten in Mossley Hill some 50 years ago. She had taught at secondary school level both in the UK and in the Middle East before settling into a career with the under fives at Elm Hall Drive.

Mai also ran drama workshops and was involved in the creation of MYD (Merseyside Youth Drama). Mai’s work with children and drama led to the production of many amateur plays performed on stage at the Neptune Theatre and it was there that Mrs Carmichael began making costumes and becoming interested in ‘stage and drama’ for pre-schoolers.

When Mai retired in 1990 at the age of 80, the sole responsibility of Bluebird was then handed over to Sheila Carmichael who had by that time worked hand in hand with Mai for 13 years.

Sadly Mai passed away in London in December 1993 aged 83.
